We are helping Grace the Hedgehog and her friends as they are in very serious trouble. Grace is one of our rescued hedgehogs and she needs a safe home to be released in. The areas in which we can safely release Grace are dwindling and over the last 30 years we have seen a massive decline in a safe, sustainable environment for Grace and her friends.
This means there has also been a sharp drop in the number of hedgehogs we see each year. Grace and hedgehogs like her are facing possible extinction in the UK in the coming decade and we must do all we can to halt it - but we need your help.
You can raise awareness by taking our Grace the Hedgehog Challenge and helping us in two ways.
1. Spread the word - by taking this challenge and doing a ‘shout out’ to 3 friends to do the same.
By taking this challenge and sharing Grace’s plight with as many people as possible, we can raise awareness and help people to understand her needs and how we are directly impacting the hedgehog population. You can help by taking a “selfie hedgehog message” and then nominating 3 friends to do the same and spread the word.
The challenge is to join us - and be part of getting the people of Britain to look after our Hogs.
The first step is just to help spread the word. Draw a picture, or make a video of you speaking about hedgehogs, including one of our hedgehog facts, tweet it, facebook it, using the #AmazingGrace hashtag, and then CHALLENGE three of your friends to do the same !
Then we’ll all keep in touch, work together to make changes – to make this country friendlier to hedgehogs.
We can become a powerful force, in the months and years to come, to help our hedgehogs survive and enjoy life along with our grandchildren.
2. Check out the reasons behind the decline:
Read about the factors that are affecting her species’ decline and see if you can implement change in your space at home, at school or at work. You can read them here. Factors and hazards that affect Grace and her family …why not tweet the information you didn’t know?
3. Get yourself on our GFG (Grace Friendly Garden) map once you a have followed the advice on how to make Grace welcome in your space
We’d love to see your pictures or videos of any improvements you have made to your space, so please do email them to us at -email@example.com
